Players using Intel’s 13th and 14th generation K-series CPUs may experience instability or frequent crashes in certain games, including Ashes of Creation. These issues stem from known behavior with these specific processors and have been widely reported across the gaming industry.
If you are encountering frequent crashes during Alpha Two testing and are using an affected Intel CPU, please review the steps below.
Step 1: Update Your BIOS
Intel has released microcode updates to address these CPU-related issues. These fixes are included in the latest BIOS updates provided by motherboard manufacturers.
Important: If you’re unsure how to check your motherboard model or update your BIOS, please contact your PC manufacturer or point of purchase for assistance. Improper BIOS updates can cause system errors or prevent your computer from booting. |
Intel has released two microcode versions intended to resolve this behavior:
- Microcode 0x12B
- Microcode 0x12F
Check the release notes for your motherboard’s most recent BIOS version to ensure both of these are included. If not, please reach out to your motherboard manufacturer for further clarification.
Step 2: Additional Troubleshooting (Optional)
Some users have reported improved stability by reducing the Performance Core Ratio using Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU).
Note: Adjustments via XTU are advanced settings and should only be made if you're comfortable doing so. If not, we recommend contacting your PC manufacturer or a qualified technician for help. |
